  • Overview

    The Woodbourne School provides high quality, non-public education to youth who are placed at the Treatment Facility from all around Maryland State and beyond.  We believe that when youth who are in need are equipped with opportunities to grow educationally that they will have an even greater hope and sense of confidence in their ability to be successful.  Students are taught necessary core and elective subjects from grades six through twelve.  The School Therapist provides therapy and related services to help students meet their educational goals.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide clinical therapy services to students through individual and group counseling in accordance with students’ individualized education plans, as well as collaborate with IEP teams.
    • Participate in IEP meetings, track progress regarding IEP goals using therapy logs and present level of progress reports, and use the IEP tracking system to input IEP goals.
    • Ensure compliance with governing agency and Nexus documentation requirements.
    • Educate teachers and school staff regarding students’ IEP goals and application to classroom activities.
    • Participate in staff meetings, school meetings, and in-service trainings as required by Nexus. 
    • Ensure confidentiality regarding medical issues, background and treatment.
    • Demonstrate the ability to handle emergency or crisis situations and use sound judgment by taking appropriate actions.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in social work, psychology or clinically related field required and LCSW, LGSW, LCPC, or LGPC required.
    • Must be able to maintain Safe Crisis Management and CPR/First Aid certification.
