    The Woodbourne Center, a member of the Nexus family of treatment programs, provides an intensive, 24-hour psychiatric, therapeutic, and clinical environment for young men who need help for serious emotional or behavioral problems. Case management and support helps the young men focus on their treatment and personal responsibility, while providing structure through rules, routine, expectations and consistency. Staff also provide support to build and promote each boy’s strengths as well as help him enhance his independent living skills and strengthen his ability to function better within the family and the community.

     

    Woodbourne is recruiting for candidates with a genuine ability to listen, offer guidance, encouragement and have a desire to help youth see positive solutions and opportunities.

    Responsibilities

     

     

    Job Summary and Requirements for Direct Care Aide(s)-On_Call

     

    Provide mentorship and supervision of resident daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures.

    • Ensure that residents adhere to daily schedules and activities established for the program, including school, therapy sessions, external appointments, etc..
    • Ensure that residents comply with required activities surrounding personal hygiene and grooming, upkeep of living areas, laundry, etc.
    • Serve as a mentor and role model by demonstrating compassion and understanding for feelings, opinions and experiences of others, and communicating and interacting in a manner that is honest, positive, respectful and professional. Participate with coworkers as a team on implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services.
    • Remain cognizant of individual resident levels/phases, privileges, restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly. Engage in therapeutic interventions with residents within treatment parameters, while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic.
    • Perform First Aid/CPR procedures and respond according to established protocols in the event of an emergency situation.
    • Assist in the transportation of clients for home visits, doctor appointments, planned off-campus recreational activities, etc.. 

     

    Qualifications

     

    Minimum of HS Diploma or GED. Previous mentorship, group home or residential treatment work experience strongly preferred.

     

    • Must remain current on all required training and certifications.
    • Demonstrate sufficient written and verbal communication skills to generate required documentation and reporting that is legible and articulate, and to interface effectively with staff, families, and external contacts.
    • Exhibit a spirit of cooperation among coworkers and comply with corporate and site policies and procedures.
    • Adhere to department procedures regarding punctuality and attendance and exhibit flexibility and cooperation with shift scheduling and rotation needs.
    • Minimum 21 years of age.
    • Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of residents.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
    • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (4- 6 hours).
    • Must be reliable and available to work various days & assigned shifts as needed: 1st  6:00a - 2:30p and 2nd  2:00p - 10:30p; including 2 weekends per month weekends, holidays and inclement weather; shift start times are not flexible, unless preapproved by the direct supervisor.
    • Must be able to pass drug testing and state / federal background screenings.
    • Valid Drivers License required.
